Release Example: Miami Marlins Partner with Ocean Conservancy for First Ocean Awareness Night

News Facts

  • The Miami Marlins organization will host the inaugural Ocean Awareness Night with the Ocean Conservancy nonprofit group during their game against the New York Mets on May 26 at Marlins Park.

  • The Marlins will present their $100,000 donation to Ocean Conservancy during the 7th inning stretch. This money will go directly to keeping local beaches clean and safe.

  • The event will be the first of its kind in Major League Baseball, and the Marlins organization hopes other Major League clubs will follow suit.

  • The Marlins will also sponsor a Miami beach cleanup after Memorial Day Weekend on May 31. Further details about this event will be released at a later date.

  • Fans will receive information on how to contribute to Ocean Conservancy upon entry to the stadium. Ocean Conservancy will be distributing wristbands and stickers in the park as well.

  • Ocean Conservancy will have tables set up for donations throughout and outside the stadium.

  • Ocean Conservancy will have representatives stationed throughout the ballpark who are happy to answer fans questions and inform anyone about their work.

  • Half of the proceeds from the game’s 50-50 raffle will go directly to Ocean Conservancy, an estimated $5,000 additional donation.
